The trend nowadays is open world with many other AAA titles fitting nicely into the genre, and so they went ahead and changed the mold of SGW3 from what it has been in previous years. It is almost as though CI Games felt pressured into developing an open world game with this one. Voice lines are cheesy and some characters are undeveloped, but the experience is still a positive one. In an effort to remain spoiler-free, I actually very much enjoyed my time with the campaign despite the numerous and overarching clichés related to themes of love and family. He reunites with a previous love interest-gone-south during his endeavors, and the two team up to bring down the bastards that captured and tortured Robert. Despite accepting an alternative assignment on the Western European Georgia front, it is not long before Jon’s true agenda is revealed to the player-rescue Robert by any means necessary. The player assumes the role of Jon North, a Marine Captain who’s younger brother has been captured by an unidentified group of enemy soldiers upon completion of the game’s Prologue. SGW3 is taking the player straight out of the game, and it is by far the title’s biggest issue. It’s no fun ghost warrior, no fun at all. Do you know how difficult it is to correctly zero a sniper scope and lead the target adjusting for wind interference while the game itself stutters against the player? Not to mention a five minute load time every single time players start the game.
While it is to be expected that new titles have rough patches at launch, it is safe to say that SGW3 was practically unplayable on day one.ĭay two brought an immediate maintenance patch that has since smoothed out some of the issues, but the game still struggles with maintaining smooth fps above all else. As for frame-rate, players could expect 30 fps if they were lucky with the game running a solid 10-15 in most situations on both PC and console. Textures weren’t loading correctly, resulting in floating AK-47s in enemy territories and spotty takedown animations. Game crashes were reported across all platforms, regardless if players were trying to enjoy SGW3 on PC, Xbox One, or PS4. As someone who was very anxiously anticipating this game, launch day was anything but smooth sailing.
